2009 FOP LODGE #124
Officer of the Month

JANUARY 2009

In November of  2008 2 children were the victims of an attempted murder by their mother who had drugged them and set their home on fire.  With their mother in jail and a father who was unable to care for them, the children were placed into the custody of an aunt.  It appeared as if there was going to be no Christmas for the children.  Warren Police Detective Jim Wise and Detective Kevin Nelson realized this and began a collection from members of WPD and contributed a large sum of their own money in order to provide Christmas gifts for these children.  Detective Wise and Detective Nelson are to be commended for their generosity and good hearts.  And it is because of this act they are being recognized as F.O.P. #124 Peace Officer’s of the Month.
